Today's Word of Wonder: Alignment

The Scripture Spotlight for Today

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
— Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

The Devotion: Where Are You Leaning?

Most of us are "leanees" by nature. When things get difficult, we instinctively lean on something to keep our balance. We lean on our bank accounts, our past experiences, our logical "worst-case scenario" planning, or our own ability to hustle our way out of a problem.

The problem with leaning on our own understanding is that our perspective is limited. We see the brick wall; God sees the door. We see the delay; God sees the protection.

Today’s Words of Wonder invitation is to change your posture. To "lean not" on yourself doesn't mean you stop thinking—it means you stop relying on your thoughts as the final authority. It is a call to Alignment.

When the scripture says to "submit to him" (or "acknowledge Him" in some translations), it’s talking about a partnership. It’s inviting God into the "ways" of your Tuesday—the emails, the errands, the difficult lunch meeting, and the quiet worries. When you stop trying to be the primary architect of your life, God steps in as the Master Builder. He takes the crooked, tangled paths of our confusion and begins to straighten them out.

The WOW Moment today is realizing that you don’t have to have a 5-year plan to be successful; you just need a "Right Now" submission. When you lean into Him, you aren't just falling—you’re falling into the arms of the One who knows the end from the beginning.

Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)

Think of the one situation right now where you are saying, "I just don't understand why this is happening."

  • Action: Physically lean against a wall or a chair. Feel it supporting your weight. Now, whisper: "Lord, I am leaning on You instead of my own logic in [Name of Situation]."

  • Prayer: "Father, my understanding is limited, but Your wisdom is infinite. Today, I stop trying to figure it out and I start trusting You through it. Straighten my path as I acknowledge You in everything I do."
