Today's Word of Wonder: Accompanied

The Scripture Spotlight for Today

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."— Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

The Devotion: The End of "Going It Alone"

Monday mornings often come with a side of "What if?"

What if I can’t handle the workload? What if that difficult conversation goes poorly? What if I don't have enough in the tank to get through Friday?

When Joshua stood at the edge of the Promised Land, he wasn't just facing a new week; he was facing a new territory filled with giants and unknowns. He had every reason to be discouraged. But God didn’t give him a pep talk about his own abilities. Instead, God gave him a Command and a Guarantee.

The command is to be Strong and Courageous. Notice that this isn't a feeling; it’s a decision. We don’t wait until we "feel" brave to start; we choose bravery because of the Guarantee: "The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

The WOW Moment today is realizing that you are spiritually Accompanied. You are not an island. You aren't walking into that office, that classroom, or that doctor's appointment solo. The same God who established the stars is walking through the door with you.

When we realize we are accompanied by the Almighty, fear loses its grip. Discouragement becomes a liar. You don't need to know every detail of the week's "map" because you are in step with the Navigator.

Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)

Think about the one thing on your calendar this week that makes you feel the most "anxious" or "alone."

  • Action: Take a sticky note or a digital reminder and write: "I am Accompanied." Place it somewhere you will see it during that specific task.

  • Prayer: "Lord, thank You that You aren't just watching me from a distance. You are with me in the boardrooms, the breakrooms, and the living rooms. Today, I trade my fear for Your presence."
