The Unstoppable Sound of Praise

Today's Word of Wonder: Witness
The Scripture Spotlight for Today
"He replied, 'I tell you, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.'"
— Luke 19:40 (NIV)
The Devotion: When the Stones Sing
This famous line was spoken during a moment of high tension. Jesus was entering Jerusalem, and the crowds were erupting in praise and worship, laying down their coats and shouting celebratory blessings. The religious leaders, uncomfortable with the spectacle and the disruption of order, told Jesus to silence His followers.
Jesus’ response is one of the most powerful WOW Moments in the Gospel: the praise is unstoppable. The truth of who He is—the King, the Messiah—is so undeniable that if His own people refuse to acknowledge it, the very rocks and stones of creation will take over the job.
This scripture reveals a deep truth about our lives: Praise is not a suggestion; it is a spiritual necessity.
It means that when you are silent—when you withhold the gratitude for God's blessings, when you fail to acknowledge His provision (Deuteronomy 6:5), or when you neglect the peace He provides (Philippians 4:6-7)—the universe itself is ready to give Him the credit.
A true Witness understands that our silence doesn't stop God's glory; it only robs us of the joy of participating in it. Praise is meant to be the overflow of the life you live, the evidence of the fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11) that resides in you.
Today, don't let the "stones" of your circumstances, distractions, or self-doubt do the heavy lifting. Be proactive in your gratitude. Break the silence and join the cosmic chorus!

- If you were the stone in that moment, what specific praise would you cry out?
- Commit to speaking that one praise out loud today, making sure your own voice is the loudest Witness to God's goodness.
