Today's Word of Wonder: Fortitude

The Scripture Spotlight for Today

"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and a sound mind."— 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)

The Devotion: The Source of Your Strength

When we think of courage, we often think of a warrior on a battlefield. But in the context of "Heart-Work," courage is the Fortitude to look at your own soul without flinching. It is the bravery required to be vulnerable, to admit when we are weak, and to trust that God’s grace is sufficient.

Paul reminds us that timidity—that shrinking, anxious feeling that says "I can't handle this"—is not from God. Instead, He has equipped our hearts with a three-fold cord:

  1. Power: The ability to endure.
  2. Love: The motivation that casts out fear.
  3. A Sound Mind: The ability to see reality clearly instead of through the lens of panic.

The WOW Moment today is realizing that you are "brave-adjacent." You don't have to be the source of power; you just have to stay connected to the One who is. When you are "Being" in Christ, His courage becomes yours. You can face the weekend, the bills, and the uncertainties of February with a "Sound Mind" because your heart is anchored in a Love that cannot be shaken.

Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)

Identify the "Biggest Giant" in your thoughts today.

  • Action: Instead of trying to "slay" it with your own logic, place the Spirit's three-fold cord over it. Say: "I have the Power of Christ, the Love of the Father, and a Sound Mind." * Shift: Notice how the "Giant" looks much smaller when you compare it to the Spirit living inside you.

  • Prayer: "Lord, thank You that I am not alone in my fears. Today, I receive Your Spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Give me the heart of courage to face whatever this day brings, knowing You have already won the victory. Amen."
