The Scripture Spotlight for Today

10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. 11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. 12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.”

— Hebrews 6:10-12 (NIV)

The Devotion: The God Who Does Not Forget

It is easy to become discouraged when our acts of service—our time spent volunteering, our effort in forgiving, our patience with a difficult family member—go unnoticed, unrewarded, or unappreciated by others. We look around, see our own weariness, and wonder if the effort is truly worth the cost.

Today's WOW scripture offers one of the most comforting assurances in the entire Bible: "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him."

This is the ultimate anchor for those who feel unseen. God's justice guarantees His memory. Every small act of kindness (Ephesians 4:32), every commitment of your resources, every prayer offered in the quiet—He records it. He sees your love directed toward Him through the way you serve His people.

The result of this assurance is a command: Diligence. Because we know our effort is not wasted, we are called to maintain that same energetic commitment "to the very end." This Diligence is the antidote to the "laziness" or sluggishness that threatens to derail our spiritual race.

A WOW Moment is realizing that we are not running a solitary race. We are running alongside a "great cloud of witnesses" (Hebrews 12:1), imitating those who, through faith and Patience, inherited what God promised. Your work is seen, your love is noted, and your perseverance is your pathway to seeing your ultimate hope fully realized.

Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)

Think of a "labor of love" you are currently engaged in (caring for someone, serving at church, teaching). Does it feel like a heavy burden or a joyful service?

  • Commit to running with Diligence. What is one small, focused step you can take today to show that same earnestness (verse 11) in your work?

  • Say this over that task: "I will not become lazy, for God is not unjust; He sees this work done in love."
