Today's Word of Wonder: Fortitude
The Scripture Spotlight for Today
"Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength." — Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV)
The Devotion: The Strength of the Vine
We often mistake Fortitude for "toughness." We think we have to grit our teeth and white-knuckle our way through the week. But in the Garden, strength looks different. It looks like a vine that is so deeply connected to its source that it can weather a storm without breaking.
The WOW Moment today is realizing that Joy is a Nutrient, not just an emotion.
The world tells us that strength is the absence of weakness. But the Resurrection tells us that strength is the presence of Joy. When Nehemiah told the people "the joy of the Lord is your strength," they were in a place of ruin and exhaustion. He wasn't telling them to "be happy"; he was telling them to tap into the supernatural energy of God’s delight in them. Today, the miracle in the ordinary is the realization that you don't have to "find" strength; you just have to "abide" in the One who IS strength.
Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)
Today, practice The Joy-Strength Soak.
- Action: If you feel a "dip" in your energy today, stop for 60 seconds. Close your eyes and list 5 things God has done for you recently. Let the "feeling" of gratitude settle in your chest.
- Shift: Notice how the physical tension in your shoulders drops when you stop trying to power your own life and start leaning on His joy.
- Prayer: "Lord, I admit I’m tired. I stop trying to find my own strength and I lean into Your joy. Thank You for being the Vine that sustains me. Amen."
