Today's Word of Wonder: Inspiration
The Scripture Spotlight for Today
"Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."— Genesis 2:7 (NIV)
The Devotion: The First Gift
We often think of "miracles" as things that break the laws of nature—like walking on water. But the fact that you are sitting here, reading this screen, converting oxygen into energy, is a miracle that upholds the laws of nature.
In Genesis, the human body was just a shell of dust until God did one specific thing: He breathed. The Hebrew word is Ruach. It means wind, breath, and Spirit.
The WOW Moment today is realizing that you are literally running on God's breath. Every inhale is an act of receiving from Him. Every exhale is an act of trusting Him for the next one. We stress about so many things—our jobs, our finances, our future—yet the most vital thing in our lives (oxygen) is provided to us freely, constantly, and invisibly.
Today, the "Miracle in the Ordinary" is right under your nose. You don't have to "find" God today; He is as close as the air in your lungs.
Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)
Set a timer for 60 seconds today. Do nothing but breathe.
- Action: Practice "Spiritual Respiration."
- Inhale: Imagine you are breathing in God’s grace, peace, and life (His Ruach).
- Exhale: Imagine you are breathing out your anxiety, striving, and self-reliance.
- Shift: Notice how your body relaxes when you consciously acknowledge the Source of your life.
- Prayer: "Creator God, thank You for the gift of breath. I confess that I take it for granted. Today, let every breath remind me of Your nearness. Fill me with Your Ruach, Your Spirit, and sustain me. Amen."
