Today's Word of Wonder: Imputed
The Scripture Spotlight for Today
"In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness."— Jeremiah 23:6 (NIV)
The Devotion: The Robe You Didn't Stitch
We live in a "performance-based" world. At work, you are rewarded for what you produce. In school, you are graded on what you know. It is so easy to bring this mindset into church and think, "If I sing loud enough, serve hard enough, or act holy enough, then I will be righteous."
But the Name Jehovah Tsidkenu shatters that pressure. It means that Righteousness isn't a wage you earn; it is a Person you trust.
Theologically, this is called "Imputed Righteousness." Think of it like a bank transfer. You had a debt of "sin" you couldn't pay. Jesus had a surplus of "righteousness" He didn't need for Himself. On the Cross, He made the swap. He took your debt, and He deposited His perfect record into your account.
The WOW Moment this Sunday is realizing that when God looks at you, He doesn't see your messy week. He sees the perfection of His Son. You are "in right standing" not because you behaved perfectly, but because you are hidden in the One who did.
Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)
As you prepare for worship (or sit in quiet reflection), visualize yourself taking off a dirty coat labeled "My Performance."
- Action: Now, visualize Jesus placing a clean, heavy, warm robe around your shoulders labeled "My Righteousness."
- Reflection: How does your posture change when you realize you are already approved? You don't worship to get accepted; you worship because you are accepted.
- Prayer: "Jehovah Tsidkenu, I stop trying to earn Your love. I accept the gift of Your righteousness. Thank You that I can stand before You today without fear, fully covered and fully loved. I worship You for the Great Exchange. Amen."
