Today's Word of Wonder: Immediacy
The Scripture Spotlight for Today
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?"
— Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
The Devotion: The Power of the Present
The greatest thief of Vitality is the past. We carry the "former things" like heavy stones in our pockets, wondering why we feel too tired to bloom. Immediacy is the "Resurrection-Work" of this week—the discipline of bringing our whole heart into the current moment.
The WOW Moment today is realizing that God’s name is "I AM," not "I Was."
When we dwell on the past, we are living in a place where God is no longer standing. He has moved into your "Today." Isaiah tells us that the new thing is "springing up" right now—but we can only perceive it if our eyes are forward. The miracle in the ordinary today is the fresh mercy that arrived with the sunrise. You don't have to carry the weight of yesterday's wilderness into today's garden.
Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)
Today, practice The Past-Release Breath.
- Action: Take a deep breath in, imagining you are breathing in the "New Thing" of today. As you exhale forcefully, say: "I leave the former things behind." Repeat this three times.
- Shift: Notice how your physical posture changes when you stop "hunching" under the weight of old memories and start standing tall in the present.
- Prayer: "Lord, thank You for the New Thing You are doing in my life. Forgive me for dwelling in the tomb of the past. I choose the power of the present and I open my eyes to see the life springing up around me. Amen."
