Today's Word of Wonder: Preparation

The Scripture Spotlight for Today

"Go through the camp and tell the people, 'Prepare your provisions, for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving you.'"
— Joshua 1:11 (ESV)

The Devotion: The Carry-Over

When the Israelites finally left the wilderness, they didn't leave empty-handed. They carried the Tabernacle, the Law, and a forty-year history of God’s faithfulness. Preparation is the art of realizing that nothing in the desert was wasted. Every dry day was a deposit into your character.

The WOW Moment today is realizing that "Arrival" is a state of the heart, not just a change in scenery.

We often think we’ll be "happy" once the circumstances change. But the secret of the Wilderness Heart is that we found Joy before the change happened. Joshua told the people to prepare their provisions. Your "provisions" for the next season are the Trust, the Silence, and the Strength you found this month. Today, the miracle in the ordinary is the quiet confidence that you can handle the "New Thing" because you’ve seen God handle the "Hard Thing."

Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)

Today, practice "The Threshold Prayer."

  • Action: Physically stand in a doorway of your home. Look back into the room you just left (representing the past month) and then look forward through the door (representing April). Say: "Lord, I thank You for the desert. I carry Your Presence through this door and into the new land. I am ready."

  • Shift: Notice how the fear of the unknown is replaced by the excitement of a new assignment.

  • Prayer: "Lord, thank You for being my Guide through this wilderness. As I stand at the threshold of a new season, help me to remember the lessons of the sand. I am ready to cross over into all You have for me. Amen."
