Today's Word of Wonder: Fortitude

The Scripture Spotlight for Today

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."— Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

The Devotion: The Source of Our Fortitude

We often think courage is something we have to "dig up" from within ourselves. We try to give ourselves "pep talks" and "muscle through." But biblical Fortitude is different. It is an outward-focused strength. It’s the kind of courage that comes when you realize the King of the Universe is walking right beside you.

The WOW Moment today is realizing that God’s presence is the antidote to your panic.

When we do the "Heart-Work" of acknowledging God’s presence, our fears don't necessarily vanish, but they do lose their authority. We realize that we don't have to be "enough" because He already is. Courage is the "Heart-Work" of taking that next step, even when your knees are shaking, because you know your Guide cannot fail. Today, the miracle in the ordinary is the quiet "I can do this" that rises up when you remember Who is with you.

Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)

Today, practice "The Courage Step."

  • Action: Identify the one thing you’ve been avoiding out of fear. Take the smallest possible "step" toward it today (make the call, write the first sentence, send the text). As you do, whisper: "The Lord is with me wherever I go."

  • Shift: Notice how the "mountain" starts to look like a "molehill" once you stop standing still and start moving with Him.

  • Prayer: "Lord, thank You for Your promise to never leave me. When fear tries to take the lead today, remind me of Your presence. Give me the fortitude to do what You’ve called me to do. Amen."
