Today's "Word of Wonder": Abundance
The Scripture Spotlight for Today
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
— John 10:10 (NIV)
The Devotion: The Fullness We Were Made For
Have you ever settled for a small, cautious version of your life? We often confuse "safety" with "fullness." We guard our dreams, we minimize our effort, and we keep our genuine self tucked away, believing that simply getting by is enough.
But today's WOW scripture challenges this low bar. Jesus offers a dramatic contrast: there is a force (the "thief") working to steal, kill, and destroy—to chip away at your joy, your purpose, and your potential. It’s the voice of doubt, the pull of comparison, and the inertia of comfort that keeps you stuck.
Yet, immediately following this warning is a profound promise: "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
The word "full" here isn't about material possessions; it’s about abundance. It means life overflowing with meaning, purpose, connection, and peace—a life where you are fully present and using your unique gifts. It’s life lived in awe, appreciating the gift of each day and stepping into your potential, not just your security.
A WOW Moment is realizing that you are not called to a life of spiritual or emotional scarcity. You are called to an overflowing life. Don’t settle for scraps when the banquet is set.
